When Leo Burnett opened its doors, a receptionist set out a bowl of apples. It was the height of the Great Depression and when word spread that the apples were free, a newspaper columnist cracked, "It wont be long 'til Leo Burnett is selling apples on the street corner instead of giving them away."

But to Leo, giving away apples was a way to say thanks to his employees and clients alike, and nothing was going to change that.

The 'Apples +' cookbook puts a new twist on this tradition by showing that creativity has the power to transform anything, even something as simple as an apple.
